ABOUT KIDUMBAKI

Kidumbaki is a kind of music which is related with taarab. The difference between them is the instruments used and how the song is done. This kind of music was very famous in Zanzibar. People used this kind of music in different celebrations such as wedding festivals and other celebrations.

Unlike the old days, this days "Rusha Roho" is being played in celebrations. Although Culture is dynamic, there is need for the Kidumbaki music to be returned because it is a Zanzibar culture. By doing so, our local music like kidumbaki and others will be remembered and preserved together with the local artists such as Makame Faki and others who were very famous for this kind of music.
