This is the only music culture in Zanzibar that has not changes from the original. This is because the people who started it are still there and training the new generation what is to known about about the music.
People from different communities around the world like Uganda, Uk, Emirates and Holand, come in Zanzibar to be trained on how to sing and dance Unyago.
Bi Kidude and Bi Ngwali are the ones who started the type of Music in Zanzibar.
Unlike the old days, the music was only played by the old people, nowadays it is played by everyone including the youth.
When Unyago is played, there is a specific group of people that is meant to be there(not anyone can attend the dance).
In the old days, it was played at anytime, but now it is played only on wedding times.
This music was done to the bride-to-be for seven days before the maariage and was done by the Ndengereko community. But know anyone can do it and it is done for only one day (for the bride-to-be).
Bi Kidude and Bi Ngwali are the Eldest people but are the ones who understand and can play well this song. They is available at Rahaleo in Zanzibar or Biziredi .
