HISTORY OF ZENJI FLAVA

Zenji flava is a kind of music in which the most of the people who like that kind music are youth. This music started in 1996 where by people conceptualized as a music for the people who are not respectable. Parents did not allow their children to participate in this kind of music, there fore it was not known during that time.

The concept that zenji flava is a music of the people who are not respectably, made this music to have few amount of artists who make that kind of music some of the were Kolpara who was mixing this music with taarab music. One among of his was called karibuni Zanzibari. Ali Haji his best song was called hali ya Pemba, Dj Saleh his song was called buzi and others. People believed that Zanzibar is only for taarabu music because there was no studio for recording that kind of music, artists had no sponsors, there was no special programs in the television radios and artists were only particpate on Ziff festival only. People did not care with that kind of music because they believed that Zanzibar is only for taarab music.

But during 1998 every thing changed because people acepted this music, artists increased the programs in different places was established for supporting this music. Not only that but also artists established big connection which was called east connection, that was only for promoting Zenji flava music.
